Helmet, seatbelt for 'back seaters' compulsory; rule should be strictly implemented: DGP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP Loknath Behera has said the Supreme Court order that pillion riders on two-wheelers should wear helmet and 'back seaters' in cars should wear seatbelt should be implemented strictly in the State.

The DGP has insisted that pillion riders and 'back seaters' wear helmet and seat belt respectively. “The police should take special care to see the rule is implemented as there is clear Supreme Court order to implement the rule,” the DGP said in the circular he issued on Thursday. Behera has also instructed District police chiefs to conduct awareness programmes to help the implantation of the rule.
