Kochi: Elite division runs one of the largest food companies in Kerala and is well- known for its quality products. Besides India, it has its presence in the global market as well. The Elite group, today launched its Arogya range of bread and rusk at the Renai Cochin. Elite Arogya has been conceptualised to provide a wide range of healthy choices.As the first step Elite Arogya introduced four variants of bread and 3 variants of rusk in the bakery range – Oat Bread and Oat Rusk, Multigrain bread and rusk, whole wheat bread and rusk and brown bread. The products were jointly launched by Sijoy Varghese, actor, ad film maker and brand consultant for Elite foods and Dr. Mumtaz Kalid Ismail, consultant clinical nutritionist and professor. Mr. Feggy Thomas, General Manager, Sales and Ms. Danesa Raghulal, President, Elite Foods group were also present at the event.
South Indians are prone to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) related to life style such as diabetes, hypertension and cardio-vascular disease, according to Dr Mumtaz. Long ago, such diseases affected people in the 50s, 60s or 70s age group but now it is prevalent among young men and women, she added. This is due to the presence of large amount of carbohydrates and sugar in the diet, she added.Danesa Raghulal, President of Elite Foods Group said that that company is into diversifed activities apart from food products manufacturing and marketing. They include real estate, sports, infrastructure development, online trading and jewellery. The company manufactures 150 different products and sells 600 metric tons of food prdoucts daily. Elite Foods is targetting a turnover of Rs 1000 cr turnover by 2020. It has nine manufacturing units across India compliant with HACCP, ISO 22000 and TPM. Danesa Raghulal said that it was the committment to provide quality food products and ensure a healthy living that led to the development of Arogya range. The launch function was attended by CG Prathibhasmidhan, Director of Elite Foods, Feggy Thomas, General Manager of Elite Foods and K N Ramakrishnan, Deputy Manager and other senior officials.
